A 6-Week Virtual Dementia Caregiver Support & Education Series
Caring for someone living with dementia can bring new questions and challenges every day. Caregiver Circle is a six-week virtual evening series designed to provide family caregivers with practical tips, techniques, education, and support that can be used in everyday caregiving situations.
Each week, we will explore a different aspect of dementia care, share practical strategies, and create space for caregivers to ask questions, exchange experiences, and connect with others who understand the caregiving journey.
Week 1 — Understanding Dementia
Understanding dementia, changes in the brain, and why certain behaviors occur.
Week 2 — Communication That Connects
Simple communication techniques that can reduce frustration and help create more positive interactions.
Week 3 — Behavior Is Communication
Learning to look beyond "difficult behaviors" to identify possible unmet needs, triggers, and causes.
Week 4 — Everyday Care Tips & Techniques
Practical strategies for routines, personal care, meals, activities, transitions, and common caregiving challenges.
Week 5 — Creating a Safer & More Supportive Environment
Ways to adapt the home and daily environment to promote safety, independence, comfort, and success.
Week 6 — Caring for the Caregiver
Managing caregiver stress, setting realistic expectations, finding support, and creating a sustainable caregiving plan.
Caregiver Circle is designed to be interactive. Participants will have opportunities to ask questions, discuss real-life caregiving situations, and learn from both the facilitator and one another.
No professional caregiving experience is required. Caregiver Circle is designed for spouses, adult children, relatives, friends, and others caring for someone living with dementia.

Michele Wachter-Gardner shares how her grandmother inspired her passion for dementia care and why understanding each person’s story is at the heart of compassionate, person-centered care.
